Engine Oil. Quick question

Topping up the ZR. Handbook recommends 10w/40 acea A2, I've got acea a3. can I top it up with that?

IIRC A2 is for general car use, A3 for higher performance cars. Bang it in, I'm sure it will be fine.

Should it be fine though? As it needs a top up and I'm rather skint, and it's nice castrol stuff.

Anyone? The only difference to recommendation is the acea spec, tis semi synth 10w/40.
Google isn't being much use. Just tells me ratings

A3 should be fine, but when you get the cash I'd advise doing a full oil change and filling it up with a 'known' quantity (I assume you have no idea what oil is in the car already?).

Fingers crossed. No idea of brand, there is a sticker under bonnet but that will be from new and not sure what has been put in since. Will stick a litre in and get on it

ACEA A2 is such an old spec it's actually been dropped from the ratings since about 2008 IIRC.
