I was helping service a friends 1.4 fiesta 2005 and removed the air filter and pulled the plug leads. It was like a swimming pool?? I used a length of pipe to remove about 1/4 a pint of rusty water.
Anybody know if this is just rain water built up over time or could water be leaking from some where?

He had not serviced the car in ages so it was just rusty water so I could not tell. He said his mrs was topping it up on a regular basis so I suspect a leak somewhere.
I could not see how it was getting to the head and plug

You will find corroded core plugs, but the initial cause of the water ingress which causes the corrosion is usually leaking screen washer jets and or pipes.
