As posted on M5Board.com, thanks to Gustav:

Supposedly the officials specs and photos - but some discussion over there as to whether or not the specs are to be believed.

Quoted from this german site: http://www.autozeitung.de/auto-neuheiten/neuer-bmw... which is running the original story:

translates (in Google Translate, hilariously, to):

"New BMW M5 Twin Turbo V8 V10-held vacuum cleaner
Yes, instead of the ten-cylinder engine, a V8 under the hood. Yes, the first time, the M GmbH adopted by the vacuum cleaner and marched now with twin turbo technology. The "M twin-turbo power technology, " known from BMW X6 BMW X5 M and M, will facilitate the high-revving engine breathing. "The new engine provides the characteristic of BMW M-cars-linear power delivery on a new dimension, " enthusiastic Munich. Announced are: 560 hp at 6,000 rpm - the old V10, it was 507 hp at 7750 rpm. The maximum torque increases from 520 to 680 Newton meters. For this purpose it is already almost over idle: relaxing 1,500 times must turn the crankshaft to provide the maximum torque to the transmission. The V10-6100 vacuum cleaner turns required for maximum traction. "

Vacuum Cleanerhehe - well I suppose it is a turbo... hehe

All I know is that it is looking like a nightly fine car - harking back to the subtlety of the E39 M5 maybe?

Is that google translate?. hehe.

Is it me or does it look like a bigger more rounded E90 M3, certainly the front end.

I did think then TT V8 would have had a bit more BHP.

Wonder how it will compare performance wise with the E60

Oh, here's page 2 googletransmogrified (I wouldn't call it "translated").

0-100 in 4.4 seconds

Before the whiners get air now, here is the fix to the master table key value for the sprint to 100 km: exactly 4.4 seconds. The previous model was needed to ensure even 5.7 seconds. And of course there will be extra money for another M-Drivers-Package that screwed the politically correct point of 250 km / h to 305 km / hr. By the way, the value of 0 to 200 km / h: meet 13 seconds for the sports car Olympus. It is here still a five-seater sedan with four-zone climate control. Additional charge all luxury extras are to be had, from radar-guided cruise control on the night view assist to the great navigation with Internet access.

Of course, tailored to allow the M-cars Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) is also good drift angle. But the New has another feature: The rear axle now improved the "active M-differential" by varying the stability of the locking torque between the right and left rear wheel.

The control of the blades lock in rear axle by an electric motor, the whole is linked to the DSC. Thus the spin of a wheel is detected in the bud - and tied. For the analysis of the driving situation into account, the control unit in addition to those covered by the DSC sensors, wheel speed and the accelerator pedal position and the yaw (movement around the vertical axis) of the car.

This prevents even on slippery surfaces as well as high coefficient of friction between the right and left rear wheel in tight turns or the spinning of a wheel - very good for the heart-warming out of sweeping curves. Speaking of: How is whispered in Munich, the new M5 could possibly break the eight minute barrier on the Nürburgring Nordschleife (predecessor: 8:10 min).

The force is transferred by a new seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox from long-term development partner Getrag, a fuel-saving start-stop system is included. In general, the new M5 swallow an average of only 9.9 liters of Super Plus. Only on its price is a little internal debate - are talking now about 100,000 €.

I really don't see why they bothered with the M5 'Concept' a few months ago, there really is feck all difference...

Are you blind? They're completely different... one's blue and one's silver.

To be fair, they do appear to have reprofiled the wing mirror slightly and, um, that's about it.

Is the sill different, or is that just a trick of the light?

Fair point anyway smile

Looks awesome. Looks more of a successor to the E39 than the last one did.

To me, it looks like a rather dull (very much like something that the Korean companies used to produce before they went all Westernised) car which someone has done a pretty decent job of sticking a bodykit to. Nothing short of a complete restyle was ever going to make the F10 look good, but they've done a good job considering what they had to work with.

The real lights still look bloody awful, however. Why are the German manufacturers largely incapable of designing rear light clusters these days?

I meant it looks more like a normal 5 series than the 1M does against the normal 1 series coupe with it's blown out wheel arches etc.

That's all they did between the E60 M5 Concept and the production car and the timeframe was similar. The Concept had opaque black windows because the interior wasn't finished. I tried very hard to see in, but even with iphone torch, there was no way to see.

Try looking at all the previous M5s against the contemporary 5 Series. Same story.

5 Series, including the M5, have looked fugly as hell in my eyes for a few years now. That looks very nice though. Very nice indeed.

Good point, I seem to recall the 6 cyl ones looked more distinct than the run of the mill ones, due to bigger wheels, but now all 5 series have big wheels. Might be just my memory though.

Not really. I saw them all recently at HQ and the E28 and E34 were very subtle, the E28 especially so - much more subtle than the M535i (which unsurprisingly is not in the archive).
