Next race update... Mallory Park... in the rain
Discussion
Well another race weekend just gone, Mallory Park on Sunday.
Tested on Sat in the dry and set some reasonable lap times. Come Sunday morning… rain rain rain.
Qualified in the rain and we managed about 6 laps before a red flag. There were cars sliding off the track all over the place. We re-started and 1 lap later another red flag… that was the end of our qualifying.
Results in and I was 2nd on the grid for the 1st race and got pole position for the second race. Was made up with my first pole position.
Race 1. Got straight into the lead with a pretty good start and although I was being attacked by my team mate throughout the race I managed to bring it home for the win. I was defensive into the first corner, Gerrards, and the hairpin nearly every lap. So very happy with the end result though. About 2/3rds through the race we met the back markers and that made it a little exciting. Here’s the video.

The second race was a little more crazy. Leading into the first corner I drifted off line (amazed I caught it tbh). The que of MR2s slotted in which meant I was forced onto the standing water on the exit of the corner. With R888s and the amount of tread I had what happened was inevitable…. I went off. Luckily avoided the barrier and rejoined, 1st to last in 1 corner. Only felt a judder from the steering wheel but felt ok. With frustration I pushed on making up quite a few places over a couple of laps, through the exit of Gerrards I lost control of the car on the standing water again and this time hit the barrier, oops. Rejoined the track and managed another lap before sliding on the standing water again then decided enough was enough. Fun while it lasted I guess.

Mallory does seem to end up like a river, I watched saw this a few weeks ago, the bloke drifted wide all on his own.

Maybe the F1 drivers have forgotten what racing is about

I do use rain-x and anti fog but it turns out while the car was in the paddock the car fogged up and one of the mechanics dried the inside of the window. It seems this also removed all the anti-fog!
I'll have a look at that video later adrian. So much standing water and medium tread R888s was just not working for me! The were rivers at the devils elbow and braking into the hairpin.

Rain-X is brilliant but I found the anti-fog stuff to be worse that useless in the Noble. It actually created a surface to retain condensation on the inside of the window.I'll have a look at that video later adrian.
