Hiya all,

I need to take out the centre console panel (one with radio/light switches/ oil pressure guage etc)as my clock does not work and I want to investigate.

Any tips guys? Although I will remove the stereo first as a matter of course, are there any bolts in that area that need undoing?

Hi jim,

There are two bolts welded to the steel/veneered panel one each side about mid way you have to reach around amongst the wires and undo the nuts, they are probably only finger tight, remove the veneered panel.
then there is another steel panel almost the same, this one has all the guages/switches fixed in it.
there are two screws in the front of it, thats all that holds it in, you should have enough slack in the wires to do this

i stood it next to the handbrake and cable tied it to the handbrake to free up a hand...

Hope this helps

Remember you will need to disconnect the heater controls to get the panel as far out as shown in the picture, it is just a few further screws though but remember which way round is which for when you re-assemble.

Job done! No obvious wiring issues with clock so maybe look at a replacement if I can ever find one, otherwise maybe one day i'll remove it and dismantle. At least I know how to get at it now. Whilst everything was off i've taken the opportunity to stick the top of the veneer back down as it had started to seperate and i found that the metal backing plate wasn't screwed in very tight so that's now sorted too. Just got the veneer to put back on but i'll do that tomorrow as i'm on nights tonight. Gives the glue tiome to go off properly anyway.

My clock works but the backlight is dimmer than everything else which is irritating. I might take it out and upgrade the bulb to LEDs or something to equalise the brightness a bit.
