Real World Cars That have Surprised You (performance wise)

Last year I Purchased a Performance Blue MK2 Focus RS and although it is one of the most poweful cars I have owned it never seems to feel fast.

I kind of feel underwhelmed by its acceleration, my friend has a 2004 Impreza WRX (not STi) and that slams you into the seat under acceleration. Its stange as im sure the Focus is actually quicker but never really feels it.

I had a 2008 350z before the Focus and that definately felt more of a kick.

I remember having a go in an Alfa Romeo 156 GTA just after they were released and that felt amazing. It seemed to pull from almost zero revs and continue acclerating relentlessly. That car felt as if it had a lot more BHP than the 250 quoted!

Had a similar experience as a Passanger in a Rover 220 Coupe Turbo. Only 200hp but felt so much more.

Im thinking of changing the Focus RS for something else later in the year. I had my heart set on an E60 M5 but after reading reviews it seems that only really comes into its own over 100mph.

My Wife really wants an R32 DSG. I love the sound and the VW reliabilty/image but dont think it will be quick enough

Just wondered if you guys had been in any cars that Under/Over Whelmed you?

Have you ever passengered in the Focus?

Always feels faster without a steering wheel in front of you.

Yes I have but only with my wife driving. I must admit when she did put her foot down it did feel quicker than when i was driving.

E60 M5s are monsters no matter what anyone says, perhaps a little too good but they do really shift, theres power there all through the rev band and not just at the top end like it says.

If its underwhelming you, you arent driving it hard enough.

Impreza WRX/STi

Awesome cars for the money, definately in the want list, good alrounders but insurance is a bit high still.

Supra TT

It corners really well actually, lots of grip, awesome brakes and so smooth accelerating it feels like an airliner taking off. Very classy and refined to drive and unbelievably well built.

My friends 600cc racing bike

I got of it shaking in fear and excitement and there was a very real chance a few times that I was going to find out that excitement leaves a brown stain in the back of my boxers.

Supercharged VX200.

Holy fk that was savage, never been in an elise/vx before and it certainly impressed, worn slicks on the road meant when the driver put the foot down it kicked sideways and when he found grip the revs and speed went up very very quickly, no lag, awesome noise, good fuel economy. Awesome.

Underwhelmed.

E30 M3. In perfect condition, on a track. Bored. Quite nice steering, but so does a good 318is. Fairly quick, a 325s feels quicker. Not a very nice noise out of it.

NSX. Not that quick, very dated inside, seating position felt a bit awkward for me. Nice car but not on my want list.

Escort Cosworth. Its no impreza to be sure, I know they are newer cars but the Imprezas have spoiled me.
