Thinking of changing my car - currently it "55" plates SAAB 9-3 1.9 TID (150) for smaller car.

Preferably 2 seaters (no MX-5!) budget upto £5k. But must be good for all year around.

Drive around 20 miles a day hence don't need for Diesel car.

Wedge shape TVR.
C4 Corvette maybe
3rd Gen Camaro
Fox body Mustang
DC2 ITR (you can always remove the rear seats)
Alfa GTV V6

Boxster for that price will be ropey too, wouldn't fancy getting Z4 at that price. What about Z3 (6 pots version) ?

E36 M3 or perhaps 328 Sport if you fancy less exposure to high running costs.

Don't see why not. 20 miles a day isn't a lot. I used to do 50 miles a day+ in my V8 Triumph.

All the running gear is mainstream parts from Ford or Rover on the Wedgies. Just get one in good order and watch for leaks. should get ~24mpg commuting too.

Depends on who did the conversion or if you did it yourself. And also how cheap you could get the parts for and the TR7 to begin with.

In all likely-hood you'd be better of buying one already converted and then sorting it out.

Places like Rimmer's, Rob Sport and the like will want circa £4k for the conversion, but that likely won't include the engine or the TR7.

Servicing is expensive on the S2000 if you go main dealer.

Fuel consumption is fairly poor too. Never got above 25mpg even on long runs

I found the power delivery annoying.

On the motorway at 70 in 6th you'd have to drop down to 4th to keep up with the diesel rep mobiles.

Basically, if you wanted to go on a mission and keep it in vtec all the time it was great. The whole rest of the time it felt underpowered and crap. Needed about 50% more torque and economy when not ragging. I mean, how can it be that underpowered but use so much fuel!

...but I might just have been spoilt as I came from an Yamaha R1.

There seem to be a few in the classified's for about £3-5k, interesting and different.
