The world in '65.... Oh for a time machine..

Being uber non-PC a wry smile appeared on may face as I watched this fantastic film.
You even get a bit of Graham Hill thrown in too. He had a magnificently dry sense of humour (to digress a touch, he was at a party/ball in the 60's and stood up when asked to talk, took the mic and said "it gives me great pleasure". Then simply sat down. Genius!!)
Anyway look at the metal. GTZ's, Abarth's, Works 275's , Works Healeys's etc etc.
Allowed on a public road! Superb!
Imagine what BRAKE and our limp wristed cretinous leaders today would have to say about this sort of behaviour... Everyone would be arrested and made to grovel to impotent finger waggers!!!
Enjoy.

Got an old VHS copy of that film from Duke. Very very good...the in car lap with Timo in the Healey 3000 is fantastic, although you can't help thinking how vintage that car looked even in 1965, compared to the Porsches and Ford GT in the same race.
If you like that sort of thing check out Le Ronde Infernale about the 1969 Le Mans (again, great in car footage in a GT40) and Speed Merchants which is a feature length film following the 1972 World Sportscar Championship, including that year's Targa.

Once you've watched this you'll be humming 'Les vingt quatre heure du Mans' song all day
