Looking to get some new bars and stem to match a new Easton Haven Seatpost, my current bars are 630mm which feels a bit narrow, but the Easton Haven bars are 711mm wiiide, do you just get used to it or has anyone had any real issues with bars this wide especially in the forests.
I don't even think about bar width at the moment when I'm riding perhaps because the outside of 630mm is only just wider than shoulder width. At 711mm+ is this wide something you are permanently conscious of and it slows you down or do you naturally adapt to it, I'd welcome the additional leverage & stability to be honest, I suppose I can always cut down if I don't get used to it or have no skin left on my knuckles.

I've got 710s on my FS and 685s on my HT and neither feel very wide to me now! A mate has just for a new carbon Nomdad which has been built up with 780s and they do feel too wiiiiiiide!
Go for it - you can always trim them down if you can't get used to them. CRC had some Sunline V2s for £20 that might be worth getting to try?

As you've already said you can always cut them down if you're not happy with the width so there's no harm in trying the 711's. By the way, can I ask what length stem you're running? The reason I ask is that wide bars coupled with a long stem (longer than 70mm for instance) can make the steering feel reaaalllly slow. I found this out a few years ago when I bought 750mm DH bars and fitted them to a 70mm stem.....felt waaaay too slow so I had to swap out the 70mm stem for a 50mm one to balance things out a bit.

Interestingly I'm currently running a 60mm Race Face Ride stem, but will go for a 55m Haven, the original stem was 120mm and the bike being 21.5" coupled with XC geometery (long top tube) was way to slow steering and stretched out for anything off-road. I find my current "narrow bars" too twitchy so the wider and similar stem length should be about right me thinks.My current bikes both have 50mm stems, with 725mm and 760mm bars and steering feel is great on both.
