Hyundai ix35 ex demo

A friend is looking for one of these new and apparently they are very hard to get hold of with the 1.6 petrol engine.
The dealer has offered him a demo that is 4 months old and has 4k miles for 1K off the list price of a new one. He was told if he ordered a new one it could be delivered by Sept possibly.
On the face of it this seems like a poor deal, only 1K off an ex demo car, but does the hard to get, popular model off set this? If not, what might be a realistic discount on this car?
When it comes time to sell will the car be seen as worth less due to the stint with the dealer or will it appear as a normal pre-reg?

I wouldn't buy an Ex-Demo if the savings were minimal ( I would class this as minimal) because more often than not it has been thrashed since cold, not cared for etc etc.
If I were your friend I would wait till September and get an '61' plate one. It will be brand new to start with so you know how it has been treated and it will add a couple of hundred quid at resale time because its 'newer' than than a '60/11'.
I do like the ix35 and I hope your friend enjoys it no matter which one he picks.

Currently I have a 60 plate IX35 1.6 petrol with ISG available for 14,995 as a comparison.
The vehicles are in demand however Hyundai are in the process of building a new factory to step up production. The ETA of September sounds about right for a new model as there are no free stock factory vehicles in any colour available at this time.

Truly is. And lets face, while this car is ok. It's not as if there is a shortage of other good hatchbacks/soft SUV's.
If they don't want to wait or get a different spec/model, buy a different make. It's all white goods really.
