I wanted to have my wheels refurbed but have been put off for a couple of reasons, one is i read some stuff about powder coating being dodgy and two is that the guy who i was going to get to do them says that the coating on tuscan wheels is a nightmare to get off and the whole job could take a week.

Point two isnt the end of the world by any means but my engine has been just run in .....

Point two slightly concerns me.....

So i looked at some other wheels, usually i think the only wheel which suits the tuscan is the spider, it simply suits the car down to the ground. I have seen some other tuscans with aftermarket wheels and they usually look pretty odd apart from the 19" jade r which looks awesome imo.

I would only want 18" so does anyone here run these wheels? would they look any good in 18"

its about 275 dearer for a brand new set of wheels which isnt a lot really, plus i get a spare set of wheels.

Maybe the offsets would work out nicely too?

I think those sharp angles and straight lines look wrong on any TVR apart from maybe a wedge .

I like them, they aren't dissimilar to a set I spotted at TAG11 which I think are sold by TVR Power.

I think thats them above, i'm not so keen now.

I think 99% of cars always look better with aftermarket alloys, some like bmws aren't imo even fussy about what spoke design, they just usually work.

Tuscans do look awesome on the spiders.

I must say the 19" jade r looks great on the tuscan on powers site, but i almost dread how they would drive.

This is a fun tool. Just upload a side profile pic of your car and try hundreds of different wheels out on it. Some surprising styles work.smile

Any idea what offset those are, the only ones I can find are ET38. I was reading that the fronts are ET42 and rears ET40? Could you tell me where you got them from?

Possible alternative -

SP12:

and with the spider for comparison:

Both refinished in shadow chrome

Spider probably still edges it on looks, but you can run 265/235 widths with the SP12 - and have you ever seen the state of a spider after someone has had an 'off'?

I'm not sure which TVR wheels he's done but I'd guess not spiders. The standard finish scratches so easily it's ridiculous. I've just had mine powdered and they turned them round in a day.

i fitted the tvr power 19" ones 235 front and 265 rear and the car tracks and runs a lot truer on these than it did on the spiders and is quieter on m/way runs it also allows more room for bigger brakes (when the budget allows it!)

I just cant get on with anything other than spiders on Tuscans.
Surely there is better things to spend your money on than wheels that dont look as good?

They look wrong.

The Tuscan doesn't have a straight line or square corner on it anywhere. These wheels are too angular.

The ones on the Orange MKII Tuscan are the earlier version with sharper lines, the ones in the original post are the revised version and have a smooth curve on the spoke. IMHO they both look good but then I like to see different wheels on cars afterall TVRs are all individually specced for colours trim etc so why not wheels but then I have had Jade Rs and OZ Ultraleggeras on my Tuscan and run Rota Torques on the Sag. The OZs and Rotas both beeing much lighter to reduce unsprung weight and all 3 are stronger than Spiders.
As said only my opinion and its healthy that we all like different things.

A agree with the bad mix. Curved Tuscan with too sharpe edged wheels.
Especially the grey one. As teenagers with tired Vauxhalls or BMW's trying to make it blingbling and look special. Wheels are attracting the attention too much while the Tus is so beautiful from itself. Even without wheels .....
IMO.

wasnt about aesthetics for me Brad - was part of a set of upgrades to try and optimise handling for the road.

Can't speak for others

I really like the graphite Rotas on your Sag. It was the decider for me to have my spiders powdered a similar shade.
There are a few jap market wheels that look like updated takes on the spider design, which I think would work well on a Tuscan. My favourite are the Ultralite A tec IIs but they don't do them in the right offsets.

I just think that the tuscan looks odd with most wheel designs. The only nice ones are spiders or the jade r, but possibly in 19" only and maybe thats because the wider rears really set it off.

I think i'll stick to the spiders and just get them powdercoated. The place is called jp polishing in canvey island, he said tvr wheels have some special coating which takes an age to fully come off???

I have never heard a bad word about powdercoating until the other day when i read a thread in general gassing which said about the wheel bolts potentially coming out. I have never heard of this happening though apart from that thread and there must be literally thousands of powdercoated wheels out there.
