Triumph TR7 graveyard

At least for the time being. Many of these sorry looking examples will eventually be restored to "as new". (I have no connection whatsoever with the company btw.)

Have to admit, the TR7 just did nothing for me at the time as a kid, and time hasn't added any rose-tinted glasses for me.

Blimey, I didn't know that these chaps were still going.

About seventeen years ago they took me out for a blast in a V8 convertible that they had built. I was really impressed with it.

They were a very friendly bunch.

Good to see that someone still loves Triumph's much maligned wedge.

I remember thinking a decently fettled V8 TR7 with an upgraded interior and some tasteful body mods would be a fine thing.

Then I realised that most of the TVR range at the time made the idea utterly redundant.

Surely some of those are just there for parts, they look too far gone to ever be worth repairing. One of them is so battered its turned into a Vauxhall Carlton.

The TR7's (especially the V8s) time will come.

All this rose tinted love for the TR4, 5 and 6 ignores the fact that they're old, hard work, uncomfortable and unreliable.

The current crop of classic lovers turn their nose up at TR7s, but people bought up on aircon and cruise control will find the TR7s and 8s raw enough without being uncomfortable.

Probably be another 10 years though...

Personally, I've ALWAYS liked the look of the convertible and would love a nice V8 one for summer days if I didn't already have an unused car in the garage!

Appreciating classic? Never in a month of Sundays.

They were crap when they were new, were ridiculed at the time ("Oh, they've done the same on the other side!" and the passing of time doesn't improve any car.

The future classic buyers that demand aircon and power steering (which is missing the point a bit really) will be playing about in £5K Boxsters.
