Hi all, i've already got tickets for the Friday and Saturday but we're now going to be near Goodwood on the Thursday also. I've noticed that Thursday tickets are going pretty cheap on Ebay so just wondering, is it worth going on a Thursday? or is it just a few new cars driving round, also how do you get a test drive, is it just a case of turning up on the day?

Thanks,

johnoz

Thursday isnt an official Festival Of Speed day - it is the Moving Motor Show day whereby members of the public, such as me, get to drive road cars up the hill climb course the day before the race cars are let out.

It is a motor industry day to promote their road cars. If you turn up early enough you should be able to get registered to drive 4 or 5 cars as i did last year & the upper market manufacturers such as Ferrari have a number of passenger rides available.

However it is well worth going because you get full entry into the Festival display area's by which time most of the cars are on display ready for the weekends activities.

There were only around 20,000 MMS tickets issued last year so wandering around the displays was a lot less hassle than it was on the Friday & Saturday last year which was heaving with people.

You dont get the 'star' drivers in the paddock & you dont get to see the competition cars drien up the hill however you get to do that yourself & having driven five cars up the hill last year - at quite a fast pace i should say - it is well worth doing as driving up the hill is a great experience.

I got a ride in the passenger seat of an Audi R8 V10 last year - an awesome way to spend a couple of minutes of my life!!!

Tickets for Thursday are free - given away by manufacturers, newspapers & competitions so they shouldnt really be sold on fleabay - so if you can get a ticket for Thursday then do so & try to get a ticket for Friday as well.

you can buy them on their own as i understand it. You dont need to buy a weekend ticket to get a Thursday ticket.

Unless i can get a ticket for friday them i'm only going on thursday.

Given that three days at festival is not enough another day extra is always welcome. Tickets can definately be bought separately and are being given away by Autotrader. Not sure many passenger rides will be available as most are booked up at the dealer showrooms beforehand, but as has been said get there early and chance it. Took thius shot last year on the motor show day, not sure you would get a chance like this on the normal festival days.

Also managed to bag these shots too

Thanks chaps, definatley going to go on the thursday. Unfortunately I can't get there until late morning so I don't hold much getting a drive or passenger laps. How do you get round this? Does anyone know of manufacturers that take bookings through dealerships prior to the main event?
Still going anyway as the ability to take some pics without the crowds us very appealing.
