Hi, just got home from doing a good job of splattering a badger on the A49.

Rad is destroyed, luckily he must have gone under the bumper itself, but the lower bumper grille is smashed to bits, I guess because the badger hit the underside guard which has half come off, and appears to have popped everything out of place. (Foglights are hanging out the bumper too)

Are there any differences between the rads used on E36s? Are they different for 4cyl and 6cyl engines?

Also where is the best place to get a new grille for the bumper? I'm guessing all the people breaking 318is's want to keep the bumper together, so won't take the grille off it. Anyone know how much a grille piece from BMW would be? (for M-tech bumper)

(I dread to think..)

Cheers

It's the lower bumper grille part, in my profile pic it's the bit under the numberplate with the 2 plastic lines going across.

We could try fit that E30 rad maybe?

It's the same as this one..

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-3-SERIES-5-SERIES-316-31...

Which says it's suitable for E30s & E36s..

Check the part No's on this site for compatibility: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do

I'd be a bit wary of ebay sellers saying the part they're selling fits 3 series, 5 series, 7 series etc., without checking first. There are plenty selling 5 series wheels as "Also fits 3 series" when they blatantly don't.

There are plenty of breakers online who should be able to sort you out!

Sounds like your car took a hammering, which has my full sympathy! Reason being earlier this year me and the mrs were coming back from the cinema late at night, when she insists I put my foot down on a stretch of road...flat out in 4th reaching for 5th, Mr Fox decides to run out of the hedge. Smashed bits of plastic off and completely demolished a fog light! Not too bad, and as for said fox... only 3 legs left on it!

^^ Nice biggrin

Thanks for the comments guys.

I think I reduced the badger to several small sized chunks, or at least I hope I did. I have just got all the plastic covering off from under the bonnet, and found it's the air-con radiator that is fked, not the main one. Will it be alright to drive with? Just want to limp it to the scrapyard really so I can get the replacement.

Pics of the damaged rad..

From above, you can see it's been taken back into the main radiator.

I hate to disappoint you but badgers have an incredibly thick skull and are tough little buggers!.

Chances are it wandered off after your car hit it wondering why its ear was itching a bit!.
