HELP - Thinking of selling my 5

Hi All,

I hope you can help, and that posting this kind of thread isn't frowned upon.

Basically I am looking to sell my mk1 5 but I have no idea where to start with pricing it. I don't want to put details on here as I don't want this to look like an attemp at advertising it but basically it is a well looked after and slightly modified car. I've had a look on the calssifieds here but there is so much variety it is hard for me to figure out which cars mine compares to.

I was thinking about taking it to a dealer, but being modified I doubt they will want to touch it. Anyone know of soemwhere in the West Midlands that might be interested?

Any help will be appreciated on this one.

Best to try one of the MX-5 forums (Nutz would be the best for a modified car, I would suggest) for both valuation & listing the car.
How modified is it?

The engine is standard but it has a roll bar, adjustable suspension (I forget what kind and not by the documents etc.), racing seats, K&N filter. Apart from a small, and easily fixable, dent behind the driver's door it is in good condition and drives beautifully. I just want to make sure I get what it's worth.

I sold mine through the 'road legal track day cars' section. Compared to most adverts there, the MX5 looked really cheap and there were only one or two others listed. It sold within a week.

Do this by searching for previously sold cars. If you start a 'what's it worth thread' I'll lock it in about 5 seconds...

Do you still have the stock seats? if so you would be better off putting them back in and selling the bucket seats separately. Having buckets seats will put some people off and doesn't add anything at all to the price. Without them the only mods are roll bar and suspension both of which are popular mods for road as well as track drivers.

Thanks for the advice so far. When I get home I will dig out all the receipts and put up a bit more detail. I didn't put much detail up at first as I didn't want to annoy people.

I bet at least half the MX5's for sale in the UK have that level of modifications anyway.

I wouldnt really worry about it, Try Nutz and here first.

So these are the basic details as i have managed to find from the old records. I will try to get round to taking some pictured but basically it is a red Mk1 that apart from the points I mention below really does come up beautifully when givena polish and drives brilliantly especially since the geo).

Sorry Big Al, was just doing what had been recomended. I know I'm not exactly a massive poster around here, mainly because I rarely feel I have the knowledge to make a valid contribution to threads, but I clearly haven't just signed up to try and blag a free advert. I was just hoping I could get some advice from people here on what could be a fair price.
