Hi new to the forum not the site been buying selling on here for years+++

I have a 1999 ford focus 1.8 diesel.

3 weeks back it wouldn't start and the dials were flicking all over the pace up to max holding then dropping back to 0 and would just turn over!

My neighbor has a garage and this week he took it plugged it in to diag machine and got it running. left it over night and same again but dials stay where they should be but car will not start.

Have just poured some injector cleaner stuff into tank to try to clear any blockages!

Anyone know of any other things it could be? i thought it maybe air getting into the fuel lines but cannot hear any suction or my other thoughts was fuel pump buggered but that wouldn't explain it starting fine down at the garage and that day then not the next day.

any help will be appreciated.

Regards

Darren

Battery on the way out? Alternator dying?

Check behind the headlight (can't remember NS or OS) for the earth point on the inner wing.

Either corroded or loose.

BTW - the Tdci (common rail) version of the 1.8 wasn't introduced until 2001.

If your car is a 1999MY you have a Tdi (non common rail).
