Looking at avilable heads to fit over the winter to get a bit more flow into the engine, what would be the verdict on these...

I would speak to Rob at V8D, personally i haven't heard of stage 6 heads unless they added a couple for the wills ring machining, also i'm sure someone will be along shortly to say you can get bigger valves in there toohttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ROVER-V8-ENGINE-STAGE-6-400-...

They're basically like mine, but without the extra porting & flow benching from Peter. Most of the 430 BV's had the ringed heads ported to that spec, in fact if you can get some 430 std heads it should only cost @£500 to get them to that BV spec. Big problem with the ringed heads is that you are limited in gasket choice, otherwise its all upsides as long as you can bear the cost of copper
There is nothing really special about DJE's heads over decent 500 BV heads as far as I can tell, just the ringing and its easy enough to get the valve guides bulleted down without taking them out of the heads if they are the later humongous ones in the 500.. Whether 5/16 makes a great deal over 11/32 is arguable ~ I don't think it would worry you too much. Certainly Pete B would find it easy enough as they make their own valve guides anyway and I don't think 5/16 valves cost anymore than the std 11/32 ones (just a different retainer & collets maybe cosworth style IIRC).
