My cars aux. belt came loose and the car overheated.

I left at 7.00am this morning and have just got back (midday). I never even made it to the track....

Silverstone International. Hopefully the trackday organisers will take pitty on me.

I'm absolutely gutted.

Let me know if you made it.

Bad luck... I snapped my throttle linkage on the opening laps of a trackday!!!

Really frustrating when you've built yourself up for the event!

After the 5 hour recovery I went straight to my local......hic....

What a crap day.

I was looking forward to it more than any man feasibly should.

Spa in July should hopefully make me feel better.

Believe me you would have felt a lot worse if it had let go at the track day, at my last day at Brands GP I managed a whole 6 laps before the engine let go. I then watched everyone enjoying the day while thinking b******s I should have checked the alternator bolt was tight frown

Bad luck OP!

We all get it though from time to time.
I grafted like mad all bank holiday weekend at the start of May, finishing at 11PM on the Sunday night, for a trackday on the Monday. To be fair, it was never going to go smoothly but, I'd already paid for the day.

I smashed a driveshaft on the first sighting lap (due to my gearchange being set incorrectly) and it was game over. All you can do is laugh really. st happens!

I hope you get the car sorted without too much expense and as someone's already said above, at least it didn't happen on track. That's even more frustrating. smile

For a moment I thought I was the most unlucky man out there but it appears I don't have a monopoly on bad luck on a trackday.

I don't think it will be a cheap fix though...

Having spoken to two independent mechanics, it would appear that the bottom fixing to my alternator wasn't fixed, or not thighten up sufficently and this lead to the top bracket failing (10mm+ steel bracket. This lead to the belt coming off and game over.

I have the car in the garage now and I'm out of pocket for the trackday fee (£300), insurance (£70) and the repair. Nothing, however, will replace the anticipation of my first trackday in two years and I'm still gutted now.

At Cadwell in May an Evo put a rod through the block before I'd even changed my wheels over.
