The red London bus en- route !

How did that get there? I passed this on the way back up to Cherbourg on Monday, couple of guys with change gear Lolly pops hanging out the back, was happy to oblige of course!

there was a routemaster bus on the ld lines ferry le harve-portsmouth on he monday evening.
think it was the one from houx campsite, also saw the gulf one with the roof ut off, how cool is hat one !

Saw that on the drive back to Calais, thought that looked like a great way to do Le mans!

Le Mans and back in Routemaster, flat out at 50, bench seats, fun? Only if there's free painkillers and a nubile physio onboard. Quality though as you say.

Yep thats the one,drove back on my own and made me grin from ear to ear! starting to seem along while ago already, cant wait for next years intake of fun.

We did the double decker thing for 5 or 6 years. It's a great, if different, way to do Le Mans. You can get an awful lot of booze in it on the way back too. Ours was an AEC Regent, with a top speed of 42mph. We had it faster down hill with the clutch in though, but the brakes were pretty terrible so you couldn't get too carried away.

I'm told if you remove most of the seats you can drive it on a std licence.

Yes, that's what we did. Maximum of 8 people is the limit from what I recall. Unfortuantely my friend sold the bus several years ago so that adventure is over now. Was enormous fun while it lasted though. It's amazing how helpful the French police are when you take a wrong turn and come across a bridge that you don't fit under. If anyone else plans on doing this, planning your route is essential. I think lorry drivers have maps that mark low bridges, so it would be worth getting hold of one of those.

I think a fully kitted double decker, painted in Gulf racing colours and towing an Atom or a Caterham has to be the ultimate.

Im the fool with the lollypop; thanks to all the cars that passed and gave us a wave, toot, banter, food! some lovely car-porn passed us this year and some cracking sticker jobs (the guy in the 850 estate liveried up in touring colours who camped next to us in Houx Annexe is worth a mention!)
