Ghosting when connecting via scart or component
Discussion
Evening all.
Got a Technika 32-2000 LCD TV (stop laughing at the back
) and a wee problem...
When connecting via scart or scart component (i.e. a DVD player or freeview box), I'm getting ghosting on the picture. Tried a gold plated scart and component, but its not dont anything. Also tried messing about with the options on the freeview box, no joy.
Any suggestions ?
PS3 connected via HDMI and the internal Freeview receivers are fine - Kung Fu Panda looking pretty good on BBD1HD just now

What do you mean by SCART component? SCART is one type of connection and component is a totaly different connection. Normaly 'ghosing' on the SCART is caused by poor quality cable used in the SCART lead the colour of the connector makes little to no difference what so ever, a cheap scart lead will have thin cable and if you wizz one of the ends off you will see that its just a load of thin wires with one earth connection, a decent quality one will consist of a few single wires and the rest will be individually screened co ax cables.
To set up properly you need to use the RGB capability of the SCART interface, firstly you need a device that can output RGB so look through the menus of your device and look for 'Picture Setting' or something similar, its normally in the same menu as the Aspect Ratio, you are looking for something that says Composite/RGB/S-Video or something to that affect. Now on the TV end the SCART lead needs to be pluged into an RGB enabled input, this is usualy AV1. To check you have it working correctly just go back to your device and switch it back to composite you will notice a large difference in quality.
There is also a cheap fix if its just ghosting on composite and you cant use RGB for whatever reason, just cut pin 19 at the TV end of the scart lead.
