vogues folding mirrors

I have just bought a 2004 vogue. When i press the button to fold the mirrors they come in but immediately go back out. Am I missing something?

One of the mirrors is faulty (stops them both staying in). A quick check on T4 will show which one.

sorry for sounding naive but whats T4? I only got the car on Saturday and am still getting to grips with it. Thanks

T4 is the computer based system the dealers use to interrogate the various electronic systems on the car.
It would be much simpler to pop off the outer covers from the back of the mirrors and inspect the micro switch and corresponding mech on each mirror. 9 times out of 10 the switches are at fault - you'll most likely find one of the actuator strips has been dislodged.

Mine did that on my D2, until i learnt to just touch the button quickly, instead of holding it until they folded in.

Mine did it too. Worn gears on nearside mirror. Replacement is £440 + vat + fitting. Ouch.
