Been today with Dad for Fathers day. Really enjoyed it.

F4, Vampire, Meteor, T33, Harrier, Whirlwind and Wessex outside and Swift, Spit x2, Hurri, Hunter x2, Lightning inside along with a whole load of other displays, models and stories. Also a Lightninng Simulator which you could fly.

Would recommend it to any aviation buffs in the South East.

Went down there with some Lotus 7 Club members on the day of the Royal Wedding.

The Meteor and the Hunter stored inside were World Airspeed Record Holders,

I thought it was like being President - you never stopped being a world record holder, you just stopped being the current one? Although I don't think you get a build a library

Dragged my girlfriend round last summer, I found it very good. Bit of a hidden gem.

There are a few nice little aviation museums scattered about. Try this one as well -

Eric, you'd like a trip to Pitstone Museum near Dunstable: http://website.lineone.net/~pitstonemus/

In particular because in an unremarkable farm building you'll find a Lancaster... the structure is repro but it's packed with genuine electronics: http://website.lineone.net/~norman.groom/

Eric Mc - Woodley is just around the corner from me, I'll have to nip up and have a look.

I think they used to build Miles aircraft in Woodley, so It'll probably have some of that detail.

Woodley museum is a little bundle of joy, well worth a couple of hours out of a weekend

Yes - it is on the remains of the old airfield for Miles and later Handley Page (Reading) when they took over Miles - so Miles and Handley Page are the main themes.

Another local aviation museum worth visting is FAST in Farnborough
