In spirit of recent Le Mans rece, I just watched the 1971 Steve McQueen film and i must say its really really good! Highly recommended 
Very little in the way of dialouge, but the commentator announcing the race and the pure engine sounds makes you feel like you are there.
Just been re-released for the 40th anniversary and its going cheap on play for both blu-ray and DVD

I'm unsure if the auction has taken place, but the 911 that McQueen drove in the opening credits in the film is up for sale at RM Auctions:

The speculation is that it will break the sale price record for a pre-impact bumper 911. Earlier this year a mint mid-60's 911 sold for $139,000 at auction.
