go-pro to youtube

we have some footage from an in car test we want to upload to youtube. it was filmed on a go pro camera and hasnt been played with/ edited etc since coming off the camera its 1.8 gb and is an MP4 file. tried a couple of times to upload it and an unknown error message comes up half way through. any suggestions? it seems to meet all of youtubes criteria.

File size seems a bit big. How many mins is the file and could you compress it before uploading? I know that straight out of the camera 720p at 25fps is about 1Gb per 10mins.
