I have set my self the aim of owning a Nissan GTR within the next 1-2 years, I am wondering whats going to happen to the prices of these cars during this period. The market seems to have gone stale at the moment with early (low mileage) Jap cars being stuck around £37k and UK cars being stuck at £40k approximately.

Im hoping someone in the trade (or not) can give me their opinion on whats going to happen to their values, it appears large engine expensive to run cars always take a hit when they come out of warranty. Will the depreciation curve take a nose dive at that 3 year mark and head down in to New 370z Territory i.e. £32k? Therefore buying one thats 6 month old etc may prove a costly time to buy depreciation wise.

Any comments or advice much appreciated.

I think they should hold their money quite well. R34 GTRs are still commanding very high prices around £25k.

Personally I'd far prefer the R34 as they *seem* to be more bullet proof. So I wouldn't pay more for a newer R35, just because it's the latest thing. If other people think like me (rightly or wrongly) that will dictate their worth on the open market...

I guess the 2011 car being priced at £70k will help residuals of the older model but there are so many for sale that prices will definitely continue to fall for sure - the 996 turbo syndrome. I reckon £32k for a UK car in under 2 years.

That is a very good point. Now that you have said that it seems obvious. R35 could well track the 911 turbo prices very closely.

Plus the R34 looks a real beast, in an old school kind of way....whereas the GTR looks a little 'bloated'.

All IMO of course wink

Arguably, a few years ago the same could have been said about the 33 when the 34 came out... Still not sure which I'd rather have scratchchin
