Discussion
The subject of oils is a huge one and this is bound to provoke lively debate. The numbers refer to the viscosity alone and say nothing about the chemistry. for that you will need to look on the packaging for the ACEA specs (and others). Assuming the chemistry is fine then personally I beleive that this oil is a good choice. Why?
It will flow better at low temparatures than a 15W-50, meaning you get more flow sooner when the engine is cold, and therefore a (very) slight increase in protection when most of the wear occurs. You may see a few (1-5) psi drop in pressure compared to a previous oil at this point.
When hot the oil will be slightly thicker than 15W-50 making it slightly easier to maintain pressure (you may see a couple of psi more than previous).
Remember your oil pump provides flow. The pressure you measure is the resistance to flow, if the oil flows easier then lower pressure and vice versa.

Worth reading about the ZDDP bit

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...Im only useing Valvoline VR1 mineral racing oil 20w50 .Should i move to fully synthetic..10 or 15w50..The cars runs fine with high oil pressure but premature wear is a worry..The VR1 oil is very high in zink and sludge build up is not a problem because i gets changed every three to four thousand miles..been told you can loose compresson when useing to thick oil something to do with hydrolics what ever that means .Now the engine as done around 6K should i move to Valvoline Vr1 10w60 semi synthetic..
