1.43 miles isn't very far, I wonder if they would have got further on some chinese plastic tyres, they wouldn't need an AMG to break traction with those on either.

Simon de Bank from Scoobynet set the Drift World record 10? years ago. Over 2 HOURS! The Impreza ran out of fuel!

It's hardly difficult to keep drifting on continuously wet tiles. The hardest bit is stifling the yawns...

Raised £7K for charity in the process, was on "old" Top Gear with Tiff a while afterwards. I can picture the video It was a circle at MIRA? I'll try find the video. Given Guiness authorised in 2001. I fail to see how Merc can claim a record. Maybe this drift record is for fastest speed? Banke was going fairly slowly. 40ish IIRC

I had a go at that at Brooklands ...although was a lot slower, in the wet, had a dodgy start and they called me in after only 3 laps
