Hi guys
My speedo has decided to start playing up.When i pull away it goes right past the 200 mark then when at a standstill drops back to 0.Any of you know what the problem may be?

Cheers Chris

speedo sensor, front wheel, mine is front drivers side, get it changed because it is adding false mileage onto your car.

well all the other gauges work fine the needle staggers on the way around the gauge to the 200 mark.

Check the distance that the sensor is from the rotating part, should be very close!

Sounds like the sensor... On 5 speed the sensor is in the gearbox not front wheel.

Hi Chris, whilst it isn't working, and assuming you've an iPhone or Android handset, use a phone speeed app or a SatNav app to check your speed.

Hi Chris speed sensor is on the top of the gearbox , when washed the water tends to drip all over the sensor , suggest remove and clean then refit checking wires while you are at it . Normally sorts mine out :-)

Just before I dropped my ex-noble off 'to be stolen' it was doing something very similar on the A303. Satnav said I was north of 80mph but the speedo flickered and then sat at 40mph before going back to normal after 5 mins.
Never got to the root of the problem, I just put it down to Azure blue quirkiness!!
It was a 2.5 same as yours so I'd take Tux's advice!
