Brake upgrades?
Discussion
Quick query - I am considering a Mk1 Tuscan brake upgrade after 6 yrs of ownership and more especially after a vigourous drive through the Alps last year which left me a little disappointed in the stopping power of my standard brakes (albeit better than usual pads). I am considering the "Big Brake" upgrade offered by Str8Six, but have to admit I am pretty ignorant as to what a full brake upgrade needs to involve for it to be meaningful.
Are we talking pads, discs, calipers in total or less? Has anyone gone down this route with Str8Six?
Thanks in advance folks.

Was it the outright stopping power you had a problem with or fade?
A bit of both Basil....over the course of each day, brakes seemed to get progressively less responsive. Not sure what current set up is - calipers and discs still the original ones; only the pads which are better quality ones than the originals. How do you find the ds2500's ? i hear some really good stuff about them and then hear some really bad stuff about them.
What other proper pads are there out there for these calipers, i have the red rose brakes and have experienced a bit of fade but not too bad, will swap out the fluid for srf soon along with some better pads (that said i don't have a clue whats in there now as theres no writing or markings on them).
an ap 4 pot caliper with a decent disc and decent pad and decent fluid and braided hose should be plenty good enough i would imagine.
Try an e36 m3 with 1 pots
they need big brakes badly, mind you a mate raced kumho with just decent discs, pagid yellows and braided hoses and srf and he had no fade at all so it does go to show a lot is down to pad and fluid.

Work from cold, not too noisy and don't seem too hard on the discs. They've got much better bite and feel than the standard TVR Ferodo compound and much cheaper.
Mine's got braided hoses as standard so check before you buy.

Shame i dont know whats on mine, i'll have to have a dig through the receipts, i did see a receipt for brake discs so maybe theres one for the pads.
It doesn't look like theres a huge range available, maybe just ferodo, oem , ebc maybe mintex?
I know carbotech will make you up a set of pads and their pads are meant to be truly awesome, expensive but very good by all accounts.
