Help required - Bonnet catches

I really need some help here chaps; Nick's car is running fine, apart from the bonnet is coming undone everytime he goes over a bump/railway crossing etc. He's tried adjusting it, but it keeps slipping down at the hinges, and also the catches aren't up to much. This was a problem before he rebuilt the car, and now he's got it back and wants to use it, it's driving him mad (to the point he's put it up for sale, see here: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2948305.htm).
Can anyone suggest a solution? Bonnet pins?

If the hinge keeps slipping, that's a problem he definitely needs to fix or the bonnet will be damaged. Once that is sorted out, he needs to adjust the bonnet to the right position relative to the body, then adjust the bonnet pins to the right position relative to the latches and finally set the length of the pins. I would guess the position or length of the pins is what's causing it to pop open, but no point tackling that until the hinges are sorted out and adjusted.

The bonnet is already stone chipped at the bottom. It's got brand new TVR Car Parts hinges. The bit where it's slipping is where the bolt goes into the chassis; the nuts either side seem to be coming undone and allowing it some movement.

Can you put a picture up of the problem,maybe something not quite put together right? Hard to imagine how some whacking great big M12 bolts keep coming loose ?

As for loctite, tried it, pitiful stuff! It did naff all apparently. Maybe he should use some of his mate's truck loctite? ;-)

Sounds to me like either somebody's had a blond moment putting it together, or is failing to do it up tight enough. There's a couple of chuffing great M12 bolts there and they don't need to be particularly tight to stop them slipping. Have you seen the problem for yourself? Do you understand which bits need to be tight to stop it slipping?Gerald-TVR said:

If its just a long bolt as a hinge retained by two nuts then thats your problem
I've just asked Nick, and he says no, his didn't have those originally, but ONE of those blocks did appear in his box of bits, and he wondered what it was for....unless they're used elsewhere on the car too? I might have an old rusty one would you like me to look? I could let you have a pair of stainless ones but would need some dosh. You also need a couple of M12 setscrews 25mm long and nuts washer etc as can be seen in photo of the hinge sets I supply
