Hi,

Okay I have been tentatively looking at pre cat 4.0 and 4.3 Griffith's around the £10-13K mark. The scenario is the car will live outside and will be used in winter, will have to be mechanically reliable and will be doing around 4000 miles a year.

However, I then noticed for the price range I am looking at Tamoras start coming into the equation e.g.:-

So opinions of pros and cons, which way I should jump etc gratefully received especially

if you have gone from a Griff to Tamora or visa-versa.

I had a Chimaera and went to a Tuscan.
Not quite the same but similar.
My prefewrence would be to go for the newer T car. Test drove a Tamora and it felt great.
Never driven a Griff.
One thing is that the Tamora boot is quite small, partly why I stayed with Tuscans. I think the Griff boot is bigger.

Terrible dilema for you but enjoy checking them out.

I've had 2 Chims then went to a Tuscan followed by a Tamora and I now have a Griff 500.
In my experience the T-cars are a bit easier to drive, more modern interiors and can quite easily be used every day. The Tamoras handling was superb too.
However, I had an itch to get a 500 so took the plunge and I'm now torn as to which has been my favourite. The RV8's are so torque filled that you can pootle around effortlessly and I think the V8 sound does it for me especially since putting an ACT system on
I'd have a look at both type of cars then make your mind up. I see you're in the Cheshire region, I'm only 20mins from Chester so if you fancy having a look at a 500 then give me a shout.

Tamora is a marmite car - some love it some hate it. I guess if you're considering then I guess you don't hate it. The only word of caution is pre 2004 engines were suspect to failure at lower mileages (10-20k) so they may seem cheap but a failure would mean a costly rebuild. Try and get a rebuilt one if you can but this will be priced in. There shouldn't be any reliability differences and both should cope easily with 4k per annum. Griff Growl is 29-31st July near Stratford and you'll see well over 100 Griffs - you won't see as many anywhere else so may help you make your mind up either way.

the griff will be cheaper to run / maintain than a tam

brakes for exmaple are about £40/ disc compared to £120/disc

addmiteddly the tam stoppers are much better tho'

If it helps I went to view and possibly buy a Griff but after test driving the griff and then the Tamora it was a no brainer when the two cars were parked next to each other. I came home with the Tam. Still like the Griff's but would always take a Tamora over a Griffith.

Would have liked to have gone to that but it's the weekend my niece decided to get married down in Dorset and I'm driving her to the church.
