Hi Peeps..Well managed to tighten clutch cable..Change the fuel hose..fit the bonnet cable with a bit of fiddling about and put the mesh over the old mesh and pin it in for now just in case i need to get in there again..Paint it black..Done.
When i took the oil filter out to get to the cable adjuster there was not a drop of oil in it but the car had sat for two days and was on a slight camber..The dipstick reads normal so i suppose everything is ok?..Just thought it a bit strange thats all...Cheers..Ziga

errrr should the oil filter have a one way valve to prevent the oil from draining back?

Ideally yes but it only adds a couple of seonds before the oil light goes out and you have full pressure. I would leave it until the next oil change.

Whats that john you want me to pop over with me hole saws..nuts..Well i know its not totally sorted as there is always something, Im just waiting and hoping its not a major thing next time..I think the ford garage is in my bad book as when i changed the broken fuel pipe i noticed that three injectors were a bit loose in their seat and when i took one of the injectors out there was no "O" rings in sight..The ford garage had my injectors out at one point and i think he has put them back without the seals, Maybe this would explain the power loss and the air leak at the intake which the rolling road couldnt find..maybe i should get some new ones as the air plenum is easy to take off and it could do with a new gasket anyway..Is this a possibility..Cheers..Ziga

What, put em back with no seals, that's criminal, surely no mechanic is that inept at doing their job, that could have disasterous consequences let alone poor running!
There's complete sets of o rings on fleabay zig for your engine if you can't get em locally.

Cheers chaps..I have ordered a complete head gasket set which includes the air plenum gasket and the injector seals for £23 inc..Im going to drop off the polished rockers sometime this week and have them chromium plated..I do need to address the rockers as there are two bolts which have lost their will to grip and i have some new stainless ones that hopefully will do the job..Once the injector seals are on and the air plenum is done i might slap it on a rolling road again to see if the BHP has gone up, Or wait for BBWF and do it there..If it does then the ford garage is going to get a very rude email..I know he has helped me out in the past but he has also created problems..And its also weird how i tell him i only have a said amount of money and guess what..It comes to that amount..Some people..Cheers..Ziga

Dont worry andy i will be as carefull as can be..I was going to attempt to fit all new hoses but to get at some of them i think the bonnet needs to come off so i wont be touching that..Although there is some cracking in the matrix hoses around the engine..But touch wood they dont let me down and i can sort them out at a later date..Cheers..Ziga

Hi Peeps..went to see rooodboy today and he fitted my front and rear pads and then helped with putting the rocker covers back on ..The injectors did have seals but replaced them anyway..Cleaned the throttle body and air plenum, Re-gasketed them..Nearly had a nightmare as the stainless steel bolts i bought which were listed for the 2.8i capri were about a 1/4" too long ( I should of checked) and i was just about to head home when we noticed some smoke and then rooodboy looked underneath and saw oil pouring out..So re-used the old ones..Sorry martin for making you work till gone agreed time..I also forgot me camera as i like to document any work thats done..Roodboys mate was there in a very nice MK1 escort which is non standard engined with added turbo..Cheers martin your a real gent..Ziga

Just gotta tidy up the manis and a few other bits..

Hey, no worries dude!
Always good to see a Wedge getting better!

Hope I was of some help today, hope the little niggles are sorted.

How's the oil situation, any leaks now?

And how are the brakes?

Yeah, my mates Mk1 Escort is a bit special, took him five years to do and a lot of money.
It's got a CA18DET Nissan 1.8 turbo engine from my old 200sx, but seriously tweaked.
Last week it made 326bhp on a safe and low boost map on four injectors.
When it's been mapped on all eight injectors and running more boost it should be around 500bhp!

Cheers,

Martin.
