Got whacked and like the courtesy car!

So my 300c was bashed up the back and now I have a BMW 520d as a courtesy car. I was looking to change soon and was going for a CLS or jag XF but the bm drives great . My question relates to engine and what, other than the stats, are the differences between the 4 diesel engines in terms if smoothness, noise level and day to day feel? Is it worth going for the sport and how much firmer is the ride etc. Any advice is appreciated.

ive got a 520d msport and love it. weve just put a dtuk box onit. its bit like a remap and it goes like a rocket and still getting 52mpg and get roughly 600miles out of a tank.

The diesel engine on the cls 320 takes some beating. Very smooth
