Just had a little splutter.... What could this be???

It seemed fine in 1st gear... sounded a little bit off and mis-firing in 2nd.... Somehow, it feels electrical.. Ah craP!

In no particular order

Throttle body balancing/wear
Coil
Plugs
Leads
Dirty injectors.

Is it happening when cold, hot or all the time?

and under what load...flooring it, light throttle??

Slight hesitation on light / medium accel usually points to throttle pots / throttle bodies. One or both may be worn

it happened ever so briefly on the way back home the other day, It seemed fine in 1st gear, very light throttle use, then in second it was mis-firing and sounding sick, but with very light throttle use... I'm going to nip out now just to see if I can find out a little more... it did feel like some kind of electrical fault though.... wish me luck!

How may miles have you done?
wear tends to start showing itself around 30k miles, out of tune quickly, hesitation / splutter on light throttle.

It does sound like this is throttle bodies...i had the same symptoms.

just done 16k

It seems to be intermittent. Sometimes it sounds great and goes like stink and others... So, whilst I was out, I nipped into the local TVR garage who was kind enough to plug it in, he said that the throttle bodies were fine, as were the lambda sensors... He did some fault on a baro sensor.. anyway, reset it and just as I was about a mile away from home.... cough cough, ahen, AHEMMMM Spluttler!!

I was hoping to get away in it for a long weekend/week soon and now just don't have the confidence..

I've been out in it again today and it definitely runs on all cylinders if you're light on the throttle, anymore and it starts to mis-fire...

Sounds like HT leads and/or the coil pack. Most noticeable at light throttle and intermittent in nature.

Common fault and not hard to fix. 150 quid in parts plus an hours labour.
