Brembo brakes and Ferodo DS-2500
Discussion
Just had new Brembo drilled and grooved discs and Feredo DS2500 pads put on my 156 V6 and what a difference, i had Tarox discs and EBC Red Stuff on before but this is a different league. Highly recommended combination and does well to stop my motor. The bedding in period is straight forward, just go for a thrash and warm them through, then gently use them until cool. Perfect.
If I was going to keep the GTV, a brake upgrade would be a much needed modification. No sugarcoating required here, Alfa brakes are truly shocking. Currently the GTV is running standard discs and Ferodo pads and its marginally better than my last two Alfas, but still nowhere near strong enough for the output of the car. How's the 156 running anyway James?
Agreed, the brakes on Alfa's aren't the best
my old 2.0 Twin was shocking on standard brakes. The current V6 has had it's brake hoses upgraded to steel BF Goodridge and Dot 5.1 fluid so combined with the Brembo Discs and DS2500 it's as good as it gets without going for bigger stoppers.
I had the car's old remap wiped and replaced with a new one because the ECU light would come on if 95 RON was put in, currently it's running 219 BHP, so this makes me happy..
Enjoying the GTV? Bet you are..

I've recently changed my pads (using the oem discs) from Ferodo DS-2500's to Performance Friction Carbon Metallic pads.
The difference is chalk and cheese, the initial bite is much so sharper and there doesn't seem to be any let up from them no matter how hard you lean on them.
Next time your pads are up for replacing I would definately advise considering these as an alternative.
(For reference, I have a 159Ti with the 330mm Brembos)

Mine has braided hoses too, but standard brake fluid. 219bhp? Very interesting, 3.0 GTV power in a 156 Sportwagon...

Enjoying the GTV yes, but she's going on Friday unfortunately, to be replaced with a Cerbera on Saturday. I'll return to the Alfa fold though, there's nothing any surer.
159Ti and Cerebra?? Not jealous at all...
I was aiming for new car this year , but then a mini jamcam is on the horizon now as soon any extra money will be on pampers and Rusks..
Sprintbooster throttle controller ,Eibach springs with bilstien shocks,Momo front strut brace,Whiteline anti roll bars, Fully polybushed,Cybox cat back,Feredo DS2500 Front pads,Brembo Drilled and Grooved 285mm Discs,Goodridge braided brake hoses,Ecu remap 219 BHP,Uprated BMC intake with full silicone hose,GTA inlet runners, recent GTA clutch. So all in all it's not standard!!
Good luck with the TVR pal, and I'll try those pads next time Rochester.

There's no 159 TI in my family though, don't know where you got that one from...

Hi, I have a 156 (2.5v6) also and I'm wondering who supplied the parts and also who did your remap? How do you get 219bhp when most of the ads say about a 15hp increase from 190ish. Have you fitted a 3.0 engine?
Also, where do you get the Performance Friction pads R-TVR?

The remap was done in Nottingham, I'll dig out the garages name when I get home, the gain is around 15bhp, if you're local to South/Kent I've heard good things about www.sanspeed.co.uk
My 2.5 has had quite a bit done to it, GTA Inlet Runners, Cybox Exhuast/Decat, Carbon Fibre CDA Air Intake and BMC Filter all add extra horses, then the remap on top.
Have I told you about the noise..
