Evening all,

Can anyone advise how to raise the ride height on a Chim 4ltr (1999). The car sits noticably lower than some others and has a tendancy to bottom out regularly when loaded; The car has Nitron shock absorbers all roung which appear in very good order.
Any advice/experiences welcome as I'm slightly reluctant to tamper with any settings at the moment.

Cheers
Richard

Jack the car up (just to reduce the tension / friction on the spring seat) and wind up the collar that the spring sits on. It may be at the top or bottom of the spring depending which way up your dampers were fitted.

Does anyone know how much difference in ride height can be made before the other wheel alignment settings are altered outside of tolerance?

For what its worth I adjusted the preload on the rear springs tonight, probably about 5/6 turns on each side. The car is definitely sitting higher with two fingers fitting easily between the tyre and wheel arch (seen that posted as a rule of thumb in a few threads), also the gap between the ground and the flat plate on the rear outrigger corner is about 140 - 145mm. I haven't had a chance to take the car out yet so will see what tomorrow brings. The only other point worth noting is that the preload nut is now at least 2/3rds of the way down the damper - could this mean the springs are a bit shot (could vaguely see "250" marked on them)!!
Finally I phoned Nitron today to get some advice; they were extremely helpful and gave me some good pointers and recommendations.
