Spotted: 2004 Pagani Zonda C12 Roadster

You've gotta love a Zonda (even if it is pink...)

Yep, you are seeing this right. It's a pink Pagani Zonda. One of the most desirable cars to come out of anywhere, ever, is going under the hammer at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, although in that colour it's a bit like being told that you can spend the night with Scarlett Johansson as long as you turn up at work naked for the rest of the month.

And we're not talking about any old Zonda either (not that there is such a thing). This one was originally a yellow C12S Roadster with the 7.3 litre version of the Mercedes Benz's glorious V12.

It will have served-up 555bhp, been easily capable of 200+mph, and made arguably one of the most evocative noises in the history of internal combustion. However, in 2008 it was sent back to the factory to be upgraded to 'F' specification with a new diffuser, exhaust system, and re-worked ECU. The result was 602bhp and a top speed in excess of 210mph. Looking good so far then...

We'd imagine, though, that despite Pagani's famous 'anything you want' approach to customer service, their master-artisans must have gone into shock when the customer also specified that they wanted them to change the car's colour from yellow to 'Elvis Presley Cadillac Pink'.

Still, it was done and here's the result. It's not the most shocking pink ever, but it's still pink. Bonhams, who are conducting the auction, reckon that it'll go for £200,000-250,000, although the results of recent high-profile auctions would suggest that it'll go for somewhat more than that. Oh, and in case you're still thinking 'yes, I could go for that despite the colour...' it's only fair to point out that if the car stays in the EU it will be subject to 20 per cent import tax on top of the hammer price. Ouch.

Easy solution... vinyl wrap it once you buy it in something like a nice matt black. Job done

its only paint buying £200k + used car and trip to paint shop is only a sneeze in the scheme of things even it went back to Pagani for fresh paint.

Then again, I'm not sure too many of the ladies would apprceiate being asked "Would you like to see my pink Zonda?"

and another £20k+ to paint it!


Personally I'd paint it either Black or Midnight Blue

I actually quite like it, Maybe it looks worse in the flesh, probably looks better than it did in yellow.

Hmm, on the factory tour we were shown one painted in a pearlescent yellow that was so deep you could've jumped into it and swum around for a while. I really liked that.

Gonna stick my neck out here and say I actually quite like it (the colour that is - love the car). OK so it's hardly butch, but does it really need to be? I think it's probably one of the few cars that a bloke can get away with in that colour.

I've got shirts in that colour - is that a fair comparison?

What I'm slightly more concerned about is the odd heritage... so it's a C12S that someone's fitted some gubbins from an F to. Isn't that like buying a 964 Porsche and fitting the body panels from a 993, or a Ferrari 348 and fitting parts of a 355? Does one suspect that the original car may be visible on Crashed Exotics or similar?

I'd buy it, reckon it will go for somewhere on the high side of £500k though! If I was driving around in a car like that, I wouldn't care what anyone else thought and lets face it, you can't see it from the inside

Um, its 'real man' pink, not 'gay man ping' or 'Barbie girl pink'.

As has been mentioned, if that colour was good enough for the 'King of Rock & Roll' then its good enough for me.
