Discussion
Hi Peeps..Thought id put this up as ive only ever seen this 4 times in about 8 years..Its like a ball of fire but stays in one place untill you look at it or try to photograph it then i moves off slowly and then dissapears like its gone out..Unfortunately its a bit blurred..The first time i saw this i pooped myself as im on a flight path and thought it was a plane on fire..Its not a lantern as they are not that big..I did see a silver ball object a few years ago above the trees where i live which ended up on britains UFO sightings and was being persued by a police helicopter at high speed..Very strange..Sorry its not wedge related although i was eating a dairylea cheese triangle at the time..Ziga

Hate to say it, but probably a lantern.....
Your mark one is awful in the dark. Distance and gauging information is very poor, also if the object is lit when all around is dark then size is also an issue. There are no real references to get a good bead on anything, it happens in the daylight as well. Also the thing is if it was travelling away from you or towards you it could appear still. The wind moves at different speeds at different altitudes and even a short way off the ground it will be different to up there. The going out bit you mention, the small candles that power this infernal things do go out, they can also set the main body on fire. Either way, they go out as if someone hit a switch.
