I`ve been advised by my doc` to take oatmeal baths due to sensitive and itchy skin. "Aveeno" do colloidal oatmeal sachets but at £13 for ten each bath works out a bit pricey, doc` wont provide on prescription and a "Google" of "Oatmeal bath" suggests buying colloidal oatmeal rather than a brand name. I`ve tried the pharmacists, "Holland and Barrett" etc etc but no joy. So, the question is......"where can I buy colloidal oatmeal"?...thanks

Invest in a food processor or a blender, buy a bag of oats and put it in.

Test it with a glass of warm water, if it goes milky it's blended enough to use in the bath.

Many thanks for that. Do I need a particular kind of oatmeal (eg wholegrain) or just a straightforward bag from the supermarket?

What's so special about oatmeal, then?

Thanks. I guess it's going to go up in price then.

For dry and itchy skin have you tried Cetreben cream? Worked wonders for me.

Generally speaking, avoid any creams/products with lanolin in them.

Rubbish. Read up on lanolin and you'll find that claims it aggravates dry skin conditions are unfounded.

No worries.

Generally any should be fine.

Some people/websites suggest instant oats are okay too, but personally I think they don't cut it. Also that would work out much more expensive.

Oh well, I can only speak for myself in that regard then. I am however most definitely allergic to it, so I would respectfully suggest that the claims aren't entirely unfounded wink

Alternatively just bag them up in a pair of tights/thin cloth/similar and throw in the bath
