Sorry yer honour I was off my face on Drugs and Alcohol and therefore cannot be held accoutable for anything I said.
Marvellous, I could see this defence catching on....
That's © and ® and possibly ™, every scrote hauled up in front of the beak in Middlesbrough, ever.Marvellous, I could see this defence catching on....
Evidence: just read the Evening Gazette to hear about how the latest promising footballer has been "struggling" with booze and pills.

exactly...
"I like hitler" personal opinion.
"your parents could have been killed in a concentration cmap" factual statement.
i don't think what he said would be illegal in the UK.
Erm inciting religious hatred?"I like hitler" personal opinion.

Personal opinion is OK but not when it is said to simply be offensive.

Yeah. The incident is slightly spoiled by the fact that the people the stupid cocksucker was gobbing off at weren't actually Jewish.
In which case (devil's advocate mode on) one could question how it was possible for offence to be caused? As a white man, I could hardly take offence if someone called me the 'n word' for instance.

firstly, there is no religious content in the two statements i typed.Personal opinion is OK but not when it is said to simply be offensive.
secondly, the 'inciting religious hatred' legislation we have in the UK is laughable... its badly worded and questionable in my opinion whether it should even exist. Some religious people seem to believe their opinions need special protection in law, which is wrong.

For the record I am an atheist but I also don't believe freedom of speech should extend to drunkenly trying to offend people.
Frankly had he tried that with me (I have a big nose and am easily mistaken for a jew) he would have permanently lost the use of his voice.
It really is no defence. Whether he should be in court at all is a different matter, but being off your head is no justification to break the law.
Personally I think that what he said was quite unpleasant and very suspect, and given that I think that he's a pretentious, drunk, worthless piece of s
t with some serious issues, I hope they throw the book at him.

Or Asian! If some pisshead called me an Asian or a Jew (Im not im a White Welshman) id laugh in his drunken face. Has this only gone to court because it was Galliano who said it?

That's a wonderful opposite example you have, against those who utter a few offending 'words'!
A few crass words should be ignored (or as above, laughed at ...as once upon a time they indeed were - he'd have been left stewing in his own air space... sticks and stones may ...).
Not now in the 'modun world', utter a so-called offending word or words - new ones are being added daily to the weekly revised edition of the Oxford Dictionary of Offending Words - and you can expect immediate litigation (usually from those with an agenda and seeking it), condemnation from bandwagon hypocrites, and then a spell inside because of the mental anguish caused to the victim... and naturally, compensashun!
But on the other hand, physically harm someone with an extreme violence and you can expect the same do-gooders to do everything they can to assist you in your rehabilitation... usually to enable you to re-offend again... and again.
Time was...

How far would you take people's 'right' not to be offedned?I like the John Cleese quote;
No one has the right not to be offended.

People blame the drink for loads of things, saying stupid/horrible things isn't a new one for that.
