It's four months away, yet I'm already excited about it. It is the first time I've taken an interest in a TV programme in years.

The second series is due to start on the 21st October if some German bloggers with connections to AMC are to be believed.

Hmm.. am I the only person who (after reading the graphic novel version and being really, really, REALLY excited about the TV version) was actually left deeply dissapointed with the televised series?

Perhaps my expectations were too high for the TV series or maybe I was just hoping it would be a straight copy of the comics, but as much as I tried to enjoy it I just didn't really 'feel' it and the feeling didn't get better with each episode.

Don't get me wrong, I love Zombie flicks and this was pretty good in it's own right but I just couldn't help comparing it to how much I enjoyed reading the printed version and being left wanting whilst watching the series.

I'm sure I'll watch Series 2 but I won't be in any rush to do so frown

The only other 'big film / tv event' that left me feeling so underwhelmed was 'Cloverfield'.

Thankfully I came to TWD thanks to the series...though the books had bene on my to read list for years.
I think the series went a little mainstream/predictable in it's story, which is a shame. I hope they revert back to the book story more.

Great TV series, are the books better as is usually the case?.
The only exception I've found so far is True Blood, the TV series is brilliant but I didn't like the books much at all.
I think so, they are GNs (graphic novels). They are different but also better imo.

Same here, I had no idea about the books/comics until the show started.

I like zombies and reading, yet I will put off my purchase of the novels until after the second series has ended. Even though the show will no doubt differ, anything that is the same I do not want to know about.

Love this series, I can scarcely believe the legendary Darabont is doing a TV series but it shows in its quality. Really can't wait for season two, I guess until it starts this is all we'll have to tide us over: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TWCXE0hsbQ

Not long to go now.

In the meantime, here is a new Season 2 trailer, hot from this years Comic Con: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwpkWH0rYnk&fea...

Also, for those who may not have already seen this, here is a brilliant video showcasing Stargate Studios and their SFX work on the show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klGw_8Ia6Vs

Enjoy!

Pretty sure it's going to be the same release date like last year.

So we have double the episodes with a budget cut, half of it to be filmed inside and less shots of zombies.
Wow, the head of AMC must be a real creative genius....

Some recent season 2 news:

LA Times said:
The Walking Dead” will kick off its 13-episode second season with a 90-minute episode Oct. 16. And taking a cue from the sluggish zombies that roam in the series, the sophomore season will take a leisurely approach, with the season split into two halves. The show will air its first seven episodes over October and November. The final six episodes will begin airing Feb. 12.

I hate it when Yank shows do that, why do they do it?
