I'm considering running the old 405 on it BUT it's finding a ready supply of it which is the pain in the ass.
Retail prices aren't far off diesel (well over £1 a litre) and the only source of used I know of caused a mate's car to blow-up (he reckons they mixed veg oils with crap like fish oils which have higher water content and less 'bang').
The local chippy's chips are so overcooked I suspect their oil is long-past usable by the time they're done with it

I have been running on it for a good few years. Currently running a 110bhp VW tdi engine, old school. 100% twin tanked. I buy all my oil off ebay, about 50p. Usually unfiltered and I try to buy as much in one go as I can. In the winter it needs heating and settling to get the water out and let the crap drop to the bottom before COLD filtering, never hot. In the summer I just let it settle and filter through a few sock filters, pillow cases and old tights, into a drum. i have a 94 audi 80 estate (197 k miles) which during the summer runs on 66% veg oil from costco, saves about £20 per tankfull, it makes it slightly quieter/smoother running which i put down to the oils thicker consitency, i put slightly less in during cooler times as starting becomes increasingly difficult, and pure diesel during full on winter.
We recently sold out Ford Maverick/Nissan Terrano which was running up to 70% reprocessed WVO for around 50k miles without too many issues (except when it was -2 DegC and hoofing up the M1 one winter - injection pump is low down and got far too cold). Fuel passes through a flat plate heat ex before going through the injection system.
Just completing our twin tanked ex-mil Series 2 109 fitted with an ex Discovery 200tdi. Same system again with the FPHE heating the fuel. One tank pure or 70% dieso and the other 100% veg.
My processing system is what's known as a cold upflow system and all oil passes cold through three filter stages down to 1 micron before use. The big issue is getting enough oil but recently I seem to have built up a 200 litre stockpile so that will last the 109 for a while
