Saturday morning before the race I decided to drive out of Houx to find a Lavage (aren't the mousse ones just brilliant in France?). Due to the diversions at Arnage and Mulsanne I got completely and utterly lost. I drove down a very quiet lane and to my joy, suddenly, a huge purple TVR flag was draped over the wall of a house on the side of the road, with a bunch of people furiously waving it at me (they must have heard me coming). Made me chuckle lots and really kicked off a brilliant day. If you're on here, just wanted to say a big "thanks" and thumbup

Had a similar experience driving South out of Arnage, I think after the race. That was a house on the right a few hundred yards out of the village.

Much appreciated!

That would be me then. A lone house just outside Arnage on the D307 (Rue Du Lude) which heads South. I was there for the 2010 Classic too but this time took a purple TVR flag to wave at you guys as you drove past. I thought it might surprise to see it there but we are all English and not some local French TVR fans.

This year we were a group of six people and three cars; my TVR LS Cerb, an Aston Martin V8 Vantage and a Porsche 996 C2 cabriolet.

We are very fortunate because my friend with the Porsche works for the company who owns that property and so we get free accommodation and he is totally fluent in French. The place also has 24hr security checkpoints because it's next to a company factory.

If all's well next year we will have it again for the LeMans Classic so if you see a TVR Flag outside then you're welcome to call in for a coffee or beer or just to use the toilet.

See you at the classic. Ant.

Glad to find you're on here Ant. And thanks for a memorable salute. If you guys are doing the Classic next year, what are the chances of using the house for the 24hr jester ? Cheeky I know, but if you don't ask you don't get. Unfortunately we had a trio of dicensoredhead youth from Bristol behind us in Houx this year and it spoiled the camping experience for me and the girlfriend. I'm finding it too much of a lottery in Houx, worrying whether we end up next to yobs again!

Thanks for the wave, we were a party of T350c, Marcos 3 litre, Vixen S3 and our 3000M bringing up the rear. We'll be there for the classic and staying in out civilised accomodation South of the circuit so we'll be waving back again.
Cheers,
Gary

Hi YRRunner,

No harm in asking but this is not my call for who can stay at the house. My friend who works for the company asks the manager of the Arnage factory for the keys so it would be too cheeky for me to invite 'a friend of a friend who knows someone'. Having said that, it's not an absolute NO, although we expect more of a group for the Classic. Anything can happen and you'd be very welcome to call in anyway.

We are only doing the Classic next year and I think you get a better class of yob for that. Cheers.
