Spitfire (?) over Brooklands

I live next to the perimeter of the Brooklands track, and there's currently what I'm assuming to be a Spitfire [as I'm terribly ignorant when it comes to 'planes], doing some rather low fly-past, dives and barrel rolls overhead.

Anyone know the occasion?

Maybe she decided to fly over Brooklands because of the complaints she got in Suffolk?

I also live thereabouts - right by the Byfleet banking - and enjoyed a good 20 minutes or so of Spitfire fly-pasts. Incredible sound. No idea why, though. Perhaps a practise run for future event(s)?

No P47s flying in the Uk at the moment.

There one that flew over Burgess Hill this afternoon. It was flying about 100ft which I only see at airshows.

One what - Spitfire or P47?

The last flyable P-47 in the UK was sold to the US a few years ago. However, there is a restoration projact almost complete of a Razorback P-47 which may have very recently flown. There was a picture of it in the latest Aeroplane Monthly which only came out yesterday.

Spitfire. Apparently a Hurricane flew past last week aswell.

I live near Cranwell and we had the Lancaster, a Spitfire & a Hurricane over us for about 20 mins on Sunday afternoon. No idea why. They did a pass together and then split up for a bit then Spit and Hurrican came over together. Loads of other light aircraft out as well.
It coincided the our village fete but I can't see them doing it just for that unless someone in the village pulled a few strings (lots of RAF & ex. RAF as residents).

You can get the BBMF (and Red Arrows) to divert a little for certain events if they happen to be going past.

Anyone can request a fly past by them, or the Red Arrows. They'll do it if it's on-route(ish) to any displays they already doing. A bloke at work has booked the Lanc for a scale RC plane day near Nottingham for example.
