windows wont go up all the way!

hi all just brought my first cerb (m3johns)and the windows are very lazy they open ok but stugle to go back up,when you open the car they go down as they should but they havent got the power to go back up when you shut the door (the drivers side is worse than the other).i have had the door cards off and lubed the channels and even with the door open you have to give them a hand in shutting.Do the motors get lazy or is there some thing else i need to look at thanks for any advice darren.

It's probably the little electronic PCB in the door that controls the windows if it get damp it goes it fails to function properly.

hi big al would that make the windows slow with no power at the top of the window,if so where is it in the door and what does it look like thanks agains darren

I'd still put it down to damp my Tuscan had similar issues when I had it.

Out in the wet/damp widows all over the place, dry weather running like a sprinter.

Check battery charge. Mine starting being lazy when the battery was on its way out with a duff cell. I changed the battery and it now shoots up all the way!

try spraying silicone spray on rubbers helped mine plus it condtions the rubbers

This is very often due to high resistance in the contacts where the motors plug in to the door harness due to corroded connectors. Cleaning or replacing the connectors in the door can make a huge difference.

No wish to hijack the thread but in a related note, is it possible to adjust the window opening when the door is opened? On the one I've just bought the windows practically wind down fully before the door pops open. I remember them just dropping half an inch or so on a new one which just looks, well, slicker I suppose.

Is it an easy fix?

The window drop is controlled by a microswitch behind the glass. It sounds like yours is not working. Its a standard lever arm microswitch available from Maplins for a couple of quid.

Cheers. Where is the switch located? I've seen this issue on quite a few cars actually, seems an odd one that the door opens but not until the window has dropped quite a long way.

If you take the door panel off the switch is on the front edge of the door under the glass - you will see it, is pretty obvious.

I had this problem for years. Tried all the suggestions, most just made a temporary improvement. In the end I had Austec rewire the door/window and I now have a window that zooms up and down like a, well, zoomy thing

Seriously though, i know it's gone to a good home and i'll still hold you to that lap or two out on track some day soon !

I'll have to get a write up on here very soon at some point with my story with the car.
