Have a new Neff fan oven, lovely, says the misses

Works a treat, but when finished, the fan continues ot work, allowing the oven to cool faster. Normal eh?

Our old oven did this, but for ten minutes max.

This monkey stays on for about 45minutes..... is tis right?

Seems rather long for me, anyone else experienced the same??

Bosch,Neff and Siemens are the BSH group and AEG, Electrolux and Zanussi are the Electrolux group I think.

yes our series 5 neff appliances does this aswell. I am also amazed by the heat that seems to come out of the tops of the doors. Got Neff coming out to look, but both ovens and microwave combi do it so not expecting the engineer to fix anything. Will mention the fan over run and see what he says

thanks NIgel

I have the combi oven too, so can you ask him about both, on all our behalf...!!! Would be good to see if there is a way of reducing the time on the fan override?

Thanks, looking forward to see what he says..

I think it's to keep the front glass cool so kiddies don't hurt themselves. But it must be wasting energy so I don't know how 'Think of the Children' vs 'Save the Planet' stacks up.

The independent engineer I had round to replace the element on my Neff explained that if you can notice the heat coming out of the tops of the doors, it's because either the rubber seal or the door hinges are failing. The longer warm up times that result place extra strain on the element which leads to premature failure.

Replacement hinges are about 35 quid each from Neff, and it's advisable to replace both as a pair. Obviously if that's all rhubarb then feel free to correct.

For the moment, I'm keeping the door jammed shut during use with a plastic lawnmower blade.....

I don't buy that, my brand new Siemens oven has always done it and has slots for the air to come out. If it wasn't supposed to do it it wouldn't have slots smile

Going back to the O/P ours does it too. So when SWMBO's finished cooking and switches it off she leaves the door open for 5 mins or so while we're eating and it cools down nicely and fan switches off.

And before the H&S brigade start, dog stuck his head in the hot oven. Once. Doesn't go near it now, much the same with little kiddies I guess, you just have to train them properly. Hot. Burney fingers. No. These are all words even adults can learn.

The ovens have two fans, one to heat and one to cool. The air coming out of the oven should be cool(ish) and if yours is hot then it sounds like a seal has gone somewhere.
