Plenum Hose Confusion

Hi,

Im in the final stages of building up my Grif 500 motor and have become stumped with what should be an easy part. I cant work out where a couple of hoses are meant to be routed. The first comes from the offside of the plenum and I cant work out where it goes to, and to add insult to injury I cant find the old one I took off. It must be the only thing I didnt manage to photograph during the strip down - typical.

First photo shows the stub in the plenum where the hose is supposed to be. Some Griffs have this hose disappearing back into the offside inner wing, but mine seemed to disapear round the front of the engine somewhere. I only have two holes in the inner wing - one is for the servo take off and the other is for the throttle cable.



Does it connect to one of the stubs underneath the plenum air intake and if so which one? I also cant remember where the pipe that comes from the carbon canister pipe connects to as well, unless its the other one of these stub pipes too.

OR

Does the stub on the offside of the plenum connect to the carbon canister outlet pipe and the two stubs under the main air intake have no connections? I'm erring more towards this latter option, but would be grateful for advice.



Please can someone help before I end up being committed?

The one on the side of the plenum goes to the carbon canister (although I think my servo one and canister one are the other way around but it don't matter anyway)... the two under the butterfly don't get any pipes... The big one on the butterfly goes to the engine breather...

Your observation on routing is also correct, for example mine goes through the wing, others go down through the engine bayis the old pipe still attached at the other end ?

Thanks for the replies.

A combination of not enough sleep and my incorrect routing of the carbon canister pipe just did me in. I should have guessed that I had a spare stub and a spare hose.

I presume therefore that the two small stub pipes under the main air inlet on the plenum are to take a hot water supply??

Yes, they are used on the LandRover for heating the inlet air, although I have never quite understood why you would want to do that.

Me neither. Its usual to try to cool incoming air.

Daft suggestion - How about modifiying it on air-con equipped Griffs and Chims so that low pressure refrigerant is piped through to cool the incoming air. Might cause havoc with air metering though......
