I think my wife very kindly bought me my Panerai Luminor 00177 in 2006, maybe 2007.

It's a keeper and for the last year has been my daily wearer. And I'd never bothered getting it serviced, but I thought it was about time I got it sorted.

I've recently met a very nice man who works for part of the Watches of Switzerland group. He arranged for someone to meet me at their London, New Bond St. store and off I poddled yesterday lunch.

The watch has been booked in for a full service (no valet please, I want to keep my scratches!...no really) - eight weeks. gutted frown

Anyway, I had a bit of a browse whilst I was there. Tried on an IWC (portofino I think). One of the Panerai Radomirs....I did like this one, tired on a 'cali' a few weeks back and wasn't a fan - but this was more of a 'base' model and I liked.

But the Pizza Resistance was the Panerai Luminor 1950 Tourbillon GMT. OMFG. What a stunner. I'd never perused any tourbillon in the flesh, but this thing looked like magic pixies had been at work. It didn't feel so big. I love the retro brown dial.
One problem, I do not have to hand the £74,800 required to buy it. Although I was offered 24 months interest free credit... :|

Anyway, dull, poorly-related story for most, but for a real Panerai fan it was quite a special trip.

I also liked (didn't see in flesh, only in brochure) the Radomir 3 days platino. Looks lovely, again with that brown dial.
