engine near race tune 1760 steel . prob engine runs but exhaust manifold cherry red thinking exhaust valves opening early. plugs ok engine not runing hot. prob started first sprint of the year. didn,t rev it past 8500 of the line then changed to second and stoped reving at 6000. now even on tick over 1800 exhaust cherry red

By retarding the top end you will have retarded the bottom by the same amount unless it's programmable ignition so you could be burning the fuel in the manifold, why did you retard it?jerseyvixen said:

OK, I've had similar problems although mine is a Hemi head which is more prone to knock, I'm back to 30degress at 4.5K. I have one of the 123 ignitions that can be programmed. I would check the timing at tickover and say 2K to see what you have, I'd be looking at at least 10deg and 20 respectively although this wont solve the lack of max revs. One other question does it have a rev limiter, this could be faulty or suffering electrical interference, I had to ditch mine.jerseyvixen said:
