following on from my post about non working central locking Here I have now replaced the central locking relay. It now clicks when the button on the golf ball is depressed but the doors dont lock.

I have put a meter on the solenoids at each side and when I press the lock button I get a 12v pulse so I assume this means that when my old relay committed suicide it took the solenoids with it.

I am going to buy a new solenoid but first want to get the old ones out and check that the locks havent jammed.

How do you remove the solenoids ? no help from the bible. They appear to be screwed to a back plate but the only way to access it is to remove the door locks, cables etc to get to the back of the plate. Or am I missing something ?

ETA: Found a guide on the chimaera pages.... should look before posting !

You need to unscrew the 3 bolts where the door lock is , the solenoid is a plate which comes out as one piece, if you find it is the solenoids then maplins do a 5 wire solenoid on off the shelf .

i had the same problem about 2 months ago and as it turns out both of mine had failed............

if you look on the TVR sites, cant remember which one to hand , but there is a table that gives you old to new colours for the cables!

hope all goes well

Cheers for that, solenoids are out and still u/s so ordered a new pair from maplins £11.50 each including shipping so not too bad. Wiring diagram and part number for maplins was on the chimaera pages.

ETA: I just hope that this ebay relay isnt the problem... but as I see a 12v pulse at the door connectors I think its working ok
